It's About Time!

The Bureau of Land Management seems to read my blog (well, probably not) as they have finally published proposed regulations regarding shale oil. (HT Instapundit)

I do not think shale oil is a panacea, and I remember as a kid that shale was kicked around as a cure to our energy woes. But while it is not a cure all, shale oil will provide time to transition to something else, and along the way, counter act the speculation that is driving oil prices up (a better way to counter act speculation than threats of government action).

Let's not forget about the technology to turn coal into oil. Hitler used the same process to fuel his massive war machine when oil reserves were out of HISTORY: reach. Its finally time to put that technology to GOOD use.

Yes, that too.

One reason I want government to lessen its involvement in this issue is that government will choose a"winner" and then force all activity down that road. And usually the winner is chosen not for economic or scientific reasons but political reasons -- namely who had the better lobbyist and what swing state was important that year.

Hence, the government has chosen corn based ethanol as the winner even though it is a loser -- ADM has great lobbyists and everyone needs to win the Iowa primary.
